The Comedy Gives Back  BIPOC Stand Up Comedian Fund is designed to help Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) comedians. Much like our general COVID-19 Relief Fund, this new fund is specifically devoted to help BIPOC comedians until live venues open with full capacity across the country.

What is our goal?


The Comedy Gives Back COVID-19 BIPOC Stand Up Comedian Fund will provide Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) stand up comedians with a one-time grant to minimize the hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down the comedy business. These grants are meant to provide immediate relief to BIPOC stand-up comics until comedy venues at full capacity across the country.

Can I still apply?

Sorry, applications for this round closed on 3.8.21.  We will let everyone know if we have another round.

How will the funds be used?

Donations will be used to give immediate relief to BIPOC stand-up comics who have lost gigs and income due to recent shutdowns through the $500 grants for working comedians in need.

How will the funds be managed?

Funds contributed to Comedy Gives Back: BIPOC fund will be received and managed by Road to Artdom Foundation, Inc. $500 grants will be paid rapidly on a first-come, first-served basis to affected comedians.

Comedy Gives Back is a 501c3 fiscally sponsored project through Road to Artdom Foundation, Inc (#47-2064364) Contributions are tax-deductible for income, gift, and estate taxes to the fullest extent of the law.

I am a working BIPOC comedian and have had gigs canceled due to this pandemic. How can I apply for a grant?

Visit our Grant page to Apply now$500 grants will be paid rapidly on a first-come, first-served basis to affected BIPOC comedians. 

I'm doing virtual and pop up shows, is this grant still for me?

Yes, you should still apply.

If I haven't filed tax returns, can I still apply?

Yes, we will work with you to find the appropriate documentation. Email ea@comedygivesback.com if you have any questions.

If I'm not a member of the BIPOC comedy community, can I still apply for a grant?

Yes, you can. Please apply for the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant

Who is qualified to receive a BIPOC grant?

In order to qualify:
 

  • You must have been a working BIPOC comedian for at least one year. BIPOC is an acronym for Black, Indigenous, & People of Color.

  • Have made a minimum of $12,000 and no more than $150,000 annually, as a stand-up comedian in 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020.

Who is Road to Artdom Foundation, Inc?

Comedy Gives Back is a project under Road to Artdom Foundation's fiscal sponsorship program. Through our partnership, we are able to raise charitable funds and give grants to the Comedy community.

Road to Artdom brings art to the people who get access to it least. With passionate mentor artists, art supplies and lots of creativity, they bring collaborative art projects,  inspiration to underserved communities and youth, and support Creative's social impact projects as a fiscal sponsor. 
 
Mission: To Cultivate Creativity, Civic Pride, and Emerging artists through Art Outreach in Underserved Areas.
